Richard has inspired me more than any other person to be a better Christian and to walk a Christian walk focused on God and serving others. He lived the example. I never met him here on earth, but look forward to meeting him in heaven.
Richard showed me that the sufferings of the present time are not worthy to compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us. He also taught me to help our brothers and sisters who are suffering in this world. Richard is no longer being tortured but walking the streets of Glory. He was a faithful servant of our Lord Jesus. I only hope I can be as commited to the Lord Jesus and serving Him as Richard was. He is a great inspiration.
I always wanted to meet Mr. and Mrs. Wurmbrand in person. They seemed especially peaceful towards the captors that ’stole’ so many years of their lives. In watching the videos on this site, I am most impressed with the quiet demeanour and humor of Mr. Wurmbrand. When I first read his book over 10 years ago, I felt his harsh disappointment that the North American church wasn’t aware of what was going on overseas with our brothers and sisters in bonds. But, in the videos, I can see a gentle spirit.
Since being introduced to the work of Mr. Wurmbrand twenty years, my heart and my prayer life have been burdened by the plight of the persecuted church around the world. I give thanks to our God for the gift of this man who served faithfully the Lord Jesus Christ. It is my prayer that God will raise up many more men and women like him.
Mr. Wurmbrand was an example that we can do what God wants us to do. We can love God & each other. The father of lie gives people the impression that it’s too hard or impossible to love God, to love each other, like Jeroboam the son of Nebat who said ‘It is too much’ to obey God. But Brother Richard proved God was reasonable (and in painful circumstances). Jesus said: Come unto me, all you who are weary and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.’ Let’s live in Richard’s faith. I also am a witness that God is reasonable and listens to prayer.
The memories i have are very clear ,my mother took me to a meeting which was conducted at S.P.G CHURCH SECUNDERABAD , INDIA we were thrown out of our home because we believed JESUS by my own father, when we reached the church bro wrumbrand was sitting down on the platform and he was silently watching the crowd as the choir sang ,amazing grace.,,what left an impression on my mind was what he said IF ANY OF YOU HERE SUFFER FOR THE NAME OF JESUS CHRIST , YOU WILL BE STRONGER IN YOUR FAITH , AS SUFFERING IS GODS SCHOOL. he also said if THE ROAD WAS STREWN WITH GLASS AND I WAS ASKED TO WALK IT FOR MY JESUS I WOULD GLADLY DO IT , QUESTIONING US WOULD YOU DO THE SAME FOR MY LORD?
Dear Bro ther who reads this testimony i was eleven yeras old when i heard thes words of that godly man today i am fourty five and doing the work of my master in the prisons of india as the lord told me more will be imprisoned for his name sake i am there to help them i have a licences to do so pray for me philip mattai ravindran nair
I have many milestones in my Christian life and one ofthem came as a result of reading “In God’s Underground” by Richard Wurmbrand. I read how he loved his persecutors but I did not love anyone who was not English and white as well. Today I would be called a “racist”. As I read the book so God spoke to my heart and when I had finished it I left my racist views behind. I repented of my sin and I’ve never returned to those views.
I am fairly certain that i have read all of Richard Wurmbrand’s books and Sabrina’s “The Pastor’s Wife” and through them God has spoken to me many many times. I will always be indebted to this man. He was and still remains my hero.
“In God’s Underground” Impacted my faith in a way that few books have. As I read through the pages, the flannel graph images I had since Sunday School of Paul in prison were shattered and the Bible came alive. I find it difficult to put into words how his faith and that of his wife’s has impacted me. I am so thankful that I had the privilege of getting to know Richard Wurbrand from his writings and video.
It was thirty years ago that I heard Richard Wurmbrand speak at a Full Gospel Businessmen’s Fellowship Breakfast at the Seaway Hotel in Toronto, Ontario, CA., to about 3,ooo people. He spoke of being tortured, that resulted in writing his book, “Tortured for His Faith”. One of the stories he related was about being made to stand for so long that blood pooled in his feet, making them elephant like in size.
During his plight, he experienced a moment of strengthening by the Lord, when a ray of sunlight found it’s way into his small cell, and, for that moment, all pain and suffering ceased, letting him know God was with him.
Even pictures illustrate the depth of his pain, through his haunted/haunting eyes. The Lord Jesus Christ, victorious and powerful, is revealed in his eyes, at the same time.
He truly wanted men and women to know the real hope that is Christ, and carries on God’s work today, posthumously.
Although he is with the Lord, having received his final reward from Father’s hand here on earth, God still blesses and gives life to the memory of that day. I am so thankful.
I also read Pastor Wurmbrands book tortured for Christ and also his sons book Hammer and Sickle, it is a story you never forget and changes your life forever. I have not seen anything more about him until this website, and I have been reading and watching the videos. This time in history when we are now in hyper speed towards bondage ourselves looks like WW2 is going to repeat itself only much worse. Dear Jesus make us strong.
